Fish Canada Workboat Canada 2012

The 2012 Edition of Fish Canada/Workboat Canada a Success!

Moncton, NB – Fishermen, RCMP, Firefighters and basically anyone who works on or near the water from all over the Maritimes plotted a course for the Moncton Coliseum and were not left disappointed.

Show management are happy to announce that attendance numbers were up slightly from previous years and were pleased with the move to a condensed two day event as 4095 buyers walked through the doors of the Coliseum.

Reports from exhibitors indicate that retail on the floor was brisk with many walking away with sales and solid leads to follow up on for the upcoming season and beyond.

Exhibitors displayed the newest and most innovative commercial fisheries products and services, which intrigued visitors and helped make decisions about new efficient product purchases.

Several awards were handed out at the reception, including an Industry Appreciation Award for Cooke Aquaculture recognizing their phenomenal efforts during the flooding in Charlotte County in December of 2010.

Jim Wellman was also feted for his years of involvement in Master Promotions Ltd.’s Marine Portfolio. We wish the now retired editor of the Navigator Magazine a wonderful retirement.

The Industry Achievement awards were also handed out during the packed industry reception at the Coliseum. The winners were individuals who have contributed to the betterment of the industry, be it through volunteering or other outstanding contributions to their community and to the fishing industry.

Selecting the winners of this award was a daunting task, as over a dozen high caliber nominations were received.

The winners of this award are as follows:

Jim Bateman

Francis Morrissey

Norman Peters

Bobby MacInnis

Paul-Aimé Mallet

We would also like to thank all our generous sponsors of this event: Marindustrial Inc, Mermaid Marine Products, Vernon d'eon Lobster Plugs Ltd., Dixon's Marine Group 2000 Inc., CMC Electronics Inc, Atlantic Cat, Entreprises Shippagan Ltée / Int. Seafood & Bait Ltd, Novatec Braids Ltd., Stright-Mackay, Helly Hansen and The Navigator Magazine.
